A programmable thermostat can be a convenient and cost-efficient improvement for your heating and cooling system. You can save up to 33% annually by using your programming settings correctly.
Simple steps to Save with your Programmable Thermostat:
1. Have you thermostat properly installed - Have a certified HVAC contractor install your thermostat. Some thermostats require more wires than your typical round thermostat. Have the thermostat installed on an interior wall away from heating or cooling vents and other sources of heat or drafts (windows, doors, direct sunlight). Also, if you had a mercury thermostat, have the certified technician remove the stat and we will dispose of it appropriately.
2. Properly set and use your thermostat - Most thermostats allow you to temporarily override or "hold" a temperature until the next programmed period. If you continually do this some of the energy savings will be lost. Setting your thermostat to 90 degrees in the winter or 40 degrees in the summer will not heat up or cool down your home faster. Use the appropriate set-points for the most savings. If your thermostat runs on batteries, change them yearly so you do not run into your thermostat shutting down when you need it.
3. Save with your manual thermostat - If you still have a manual thermostat, change temperatures when you leave your home or go to bed at night.
We offer a few different brands for you to look at. But if there is a specific thermostat that we do not have on the website, do not hesitate to call or email and we can get it for you! Here are four Programmable Thermostats that we suggest:
